Install your Prefab Site
Here are your steps to success:
- Get A Domain Name - Your website needs a domain. It can sit inside of a domain, but you need a location on the web where you will stake you claim
- Host Your Site - You need a web host capable of running PHP and MySQL
- Get Your Information Handy - You will not be made to set-up an account to use Prefab site. You need key pieces of information to make your website installation work:
- Your Web Host FTP Information: What is the "url" for your FTP account?
- Your FTP Login: What is your user name at your web host?
- Your FTP Password: We need your password. We will not retain your password for any longer than it take to upload your site. Before you begin the installation, we will detail the use of your password and you will need to approve that step.
- Where Should Your Site Go?: Do you know for sure which directory your site will go into? Don't worry: when we get underway, we will stop and confirm your server's directory structure and give you some options and some help.
- Your Database Server Information: What is the "url" for your MySQL database. Often, it is "localhost"-- but different web hosts to do it different ways?
- Your Database name: We will be installing your Prefab Site into a database. Most web hosts will not allow you to set-up a database. They will do it for you. They will provide you with a name for your database. We will need that information.
- Your Database Login: What is your user name for your database? You may need to stop at this point, ask your web host service provider about adding a MySQL user account.
- Your Database Password: We need your database password. This will be added to the key file you need to make your Prefab site work-- we will not retain it. It is likely different from your FTP password, but that's not a hard and fast rule.
- Your Site Name: What do you call your site? For example: if your site url is "xzy.com", you may actually call it "XYZ Enterprises and Co."-- this is not essential, but if we have it, we can save you a step later on.
- Your URL: This will probably be the same as your "Web Host FTP", but it might not. At the end of this process, you will need to redirect you to your website to complete the installation. Without your web address-- your URL-- we cannot complete the installation of Prefab Site on your site.
- Agree to our Terms and Conditions - On the next page, you will be asked to agree to our terms and conditions for you to continue.
In short:
- You are sharing your password with us temporarily to Prefab your site. If this sharing causes you harm, we not resposible or liable.
- We will not store your password in any permanent form. Not even in our database.
- You are uploading a Prefab Site to your own site.
- You understanding that this could be a destructive process-- when we upload our "index.php", it will overwrite your "index.php". If you continue to the installation, you accept that and we are not liable.
- You are doing this for legitimate purposes. You will be responsible if your upload causes harm to a third parry. To that effect, we only allow so many attempts to upload our Prefab Site to your FTP destination.
- You agree to all of the Terms and Conditions of the Drupal application and associated files and applications that we will upload for you.
